I was introduced to quilting in 1979 and haven't put down a needle since. I began teaching quiltmaking in 1982, by 1985 I started creating small quilts with the charm of the antique, or 'new quilts that look olde'.

I began selling my small quilts in 1988, and traveled east to exhibit at juried Folk Art Shows in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New England. I traveled to Pennsylvania once a year to exhibit at the Designer Craftsman Show (a juried, invitational show) near Philadelphia, a retail venue for the serious collector of American craftsmanship.

My quilts have been listed in the Early American Life Directory of American Traditional Crafts annually from 1990 through 2002. I stopped submitting in 2003 since I no longer sell my quilts.

In 1995 I began my quilt pattern business, I sell to quilt shops, distributors, and exhibit at Quilt Market. I teach and lecture for quilt guilds, shops, and retreats.

In April of 2000, I flew to Burbank and taped episode #603 of Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson.

I publish my 19th century small quilt re-creations patterns and I published my first book in the Fall of 2000, I've written and published 12 books as of December 2005, look for my book 'Small Quilts with Vintage Charm' with C&T Publishing.

Ask about 'Jo's Little Women' Club at your favorite Quilt Shop, an olde fashioned gathering making small olde looking quilts and needful things.

I design for Andover Fabrics since 2002, ask for Jo's popular lines at your favorite Quilt Shop.

I have had quilts published in American Patchwork & Quilting, Quilters Newsletter Magazine, Early American Life, Miniature Quilts, and McCall's Quilting.

In 1998, I licensed some of my quilts to Heart of America, who publishes framed art prints of my quilts, the prints are available in country stores and gift shops..

I live in Nebraska City with my husband Russ and our two cats.
